Potters For Peace

Potters for Peace has the ability and means to make a real difference, helping people gain control over their own lives and bringing potable water to the poorest of the poor.
To achieve this, we depend on the commitment and generosity of people and organizations who share our vision of a world where peace is a result of all families living in a dignified and healthy manner.

Potters for Peace is a U.S. 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, (#84-1378419) and a registered non-governmental organization in Nicaragua. Donations are tax deductible.

Individuals
Donations from individuals are the backbone of our funding. Whatever your giving capacity, you can help. Not only is this support important in the form of dollars and cents but it is sustaining to know others believe in PFP’s work.

Unfortunately one cannot be a “Card carrying member” of PFP; we don’t have that kind of membership policy but you will be placed on the data base and PFP mailing list for newsletters, also available here on the website “news” page.

There are several ways to donate to PFP:

  • Online through Paypal. A simple, safe, and secure donation from your credit card or bank account.
  • Send a check through the mail the old fashioned way.
  • Donate at NCECA or other regional events.
  • Put on a benefit pottery sale or other promotional event. We can help with informative media, wholesale Nicaraguan pottery etc.
  • Donate for a friend; give a donation in any amount in another’s name and we will send that person a beautiful card in your name as a holiday gift or acknowledging a special occasion.
  • Donate your frequent flyer miles to PFP, they will be used by technical workers who assist at projects worldwide. This must be a complete flight.

Groups
If you are a member of a pottery cooperative or guild in addition to the above named ways to assist PFP you may want to consider your group developing a relationship with a Central American pottery cooperative. These are primarily groups of women potters and PFP will be happy to work with you on this. Sponsoring travel and interchanges to each other’s workshops, fundraising for infrastructure improvements, funding children’s schooling and health care are some of the ways to participate.

An ideal way for a group to contribute to PFP is through an annual benefit pottery sale or other promotional event. We can help with informative media, wholesale Nicaraguan pottery etc.

If you want to donate filters….

Potters for Peace owns no filter factories, makes no filters, and sells no filters. Instead, we facilitate the transfer of technology to local groups around the world who do all of the above.

Until now, the main method of distribution world-wide has been through sales to non-governmental organizations, who develop their own educational materials, distribute the filters (usually on a heavily cost-subsidized basis), and monitor proper usage and adoption of the technology.

It is the policy of Potters for Peace not to distribute filters individually outside of a well-designed program that includes health education and follow-up. We have learned the hard way that simply distributing filters to those in need, while an admirable impulse, is neither effective nor sustainable. Without properly-designed education and follow-up, it is very difficult to achieve long-lasting change.

All donations to the Potters for Peace Filter Program will be used to support our program of putting locally sustainable filter producing shops into production, not to distribute filters individually.

Potters for Peace does not share or sell personal information.
